Card Making

Tips & Tricks

  • When you line up your top cutting plate, be sure to look at where the cutting edge is and make sure you leave some of the bottom edge uncovered (so it doesn’t get cut)
  • You can also put your die cutting-edge up on your paper and draw two reference lines — one at the bottom of the die (so you know where to line up your dies) and one where the bottom cutting edge (so you know how to line up your top cutting plate to avoid cutting the bottom edge)
  • It’s best if you can leave at least 2-3 spots across your die still attached at the bottom to give it extra stability.

FLIP – Crafter’s Companion Box Kit #14 – Stencils

I don’t think I’ve ever used stencils as extensively as I did during this craft session. 🙂 It really did remind me to pull out my stencils more often. Stencils are great for making gorgeous backgrounds. These backgrounds can also stand centerstage with just simple sentiments to finish them off.

Motion Crafts – Small Envelope

I know these have been around for a while, but I’ve only just discovered Motion Crafts. If you aren’t familiar with these, they allow you to create interactive cards that animate when you pull a special grid across the stamp.

This particular die set is actually perfect for gift cards, and it’s great in general even if you don’t use it with the animated stamp.

Christmas Advent Calendar Folio – Box With Attached Lid

This is the second style of advent calendar folios I created. The main difference from the first style is in the box construction. I’ll be honest though, this method needs tweaking. FLIP – Crafter’s Companion Box 12 – Stamps & Dies

This is such a fun kit! The dies are pretty unique to anything I have in my stash. They actually do a partial die cut and there are several different sizes in butterflies and flowers. The butterflies just cut the wings but leave the body attached to the card. The flowers also have some extra dimension that’s created with some partial die-cutting.… Read the rest

FLIP – Crafter’s Companion Craft Box #28 – Character-Over-The-Edge

I was so excited to dive into this kit. I have a few other boxes I haven’t even opened, but I wanted to get straight into this box because I had been eyeing the “character-over-the-edge” dies for a while now. And I love them all so it’s so hard to just get one or two — I want them ALL!
