You’re All That!

On today’s card, I’ll be adding some detail and dimension to die cuts from solid color cardstock. Stamp & colored images are so gorgeous for all the dimension and texture you can add, but you can get some of that look even with solid color cardstock — and in no time at all!

Let’s Make This

Step 1. Die Cut Your Elements

  • DCS Burgundy – Bag
  • DCS Yellow Jacket – Bag & smaller circle
  • PopTone Gumdrop Green – Bag
  • PopTone Banana Split – Chips
  • DCS Red Pepper – bigger circle

Step 2. Add Shading

Using a grey ink is an easy way to add shading to your die cuts. This can give flat solid color cardstock more dimension. Grey works over top every color, so you don’t need to have a wide variety of ink pads. For the individual potato chips, I used a mix of a darker yellow and a sandy tan. This gives the chips that lovely crisp look!

Step 3. Stamp Your Sentiment

This sentiment stamp is designed to stamp in one go, but I split the top and bottom portion leaving more space in the middle for the circle die cuts. You can ink very carefully or use scrap paper to mask off the portion of the stamp you don’t want and then ink the rest. Just make sure the stamp is clean before you stamp. Ask me how I know. 🤪

Step 4. Add Some Layers

Initially, I thought I would use 3 chip bags, but these are rather large, so I’ll save one for my next card and just use two on this one. This also gives me the chance to add some mats and layers. The black cardstock is cut to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and the white is cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″.

Step 5. Glue Down The Chip Bags

I glued the chip bag without a sentiment flat to the card, but lifted the yellow bag with low profile foam. The small individual chips were glued here and there with 3D Glue Gel to add some dimension as well.

TIP: The chips are a great way to hide any bad masking during stamping. 😜
