FLIP – Crafter’s Companion Box 12 – Stamps & Dies

This is such a fun kit! The dies are pretty unique to anything I have in my stash. They actually do a partial die cut and there are several different sizes in butterflies and flowers. The butterflies just cut the wings but leave the body attached to the card. The flowers also have some extra dimension that’s created with some partial die-cutting. Super cool!

Since I was FLIP’ing across the country with this kit, I only brought my mini die-cutting machine. It would be fun to try this kit out again with my larger die cutting machine so I can cut into the middle of the card.

Tips & Tricks

  • For added detail and dimension, you can stamp the butterfly and flower with the coordinated stamps.
  • I recommend die-cutting and then stamping for the butterfly. The butterfly dies are solid, which is good because it won’t get warped as you use it over time. However, it makes it hard to line up since you can’t see the stamped image beneath. If you die cut first, it’ll be easier to line up the stamp over it.
  • There are two different styles flower dies in various sizes. The smaller ones just cut the petals out, leaving the center of the flower attached to the card. The larger flower dies similarly only cut the petals, but there’s actually a double-cut of the flowers, which adds some extra dimension.
  • You can always fully cut out the butterflies and flowers with just a couple of snips. With the larger flowers, the outer portion of the petals are thinner and a little more fragile.
