May/June Projects Galore

This time of year is super busy for me… it feels like Christmas what with all the gifts, cards, etc. I send out. May is Mother’s day plus 5 birthdays. June is Father’s day plus another 5 birthdays.

This year, I’ve gotten into mini albums, so I’m making several to send to family and friends. Here’s what I’ve got going on:

Father’s Day Photography Book

My dad loves photography but with the stay-at-home order in place he can’t get out there and shoot. I thought it might be nice for him to go through his photos, pick some favorites and get them printed as 8×10 to put into this album. It’s gonna be a whopping 11.5″ x 11.5″ album (the biggest I’ve ever made). This will be a hand-cut album since it’s so big.

I’m using a combination of Craft Perfect handmade cotton papers (the silvers and grey tones) with this very awesome paper pack from Prima Marketing — Salvage District. I think it’ll keep the photo book looking classy and “arty”.

Mom’s Bday Mini-Album

I’ve chosen Graphic 45’s DCE Ladies Diary for my mom’s album. It reminds me of the sewing patterns from way back when. My mom used to sew for a wedding dress designer, and she often made her own clothes and our clothes. Some of ladies in this paper pack remind me of the fashion illustrations on those sewing patterns. It just instantly made me think of my mom and I just have to make her a mini album with it. This will be a hand-cut album since I have to design the pages to match the specific designs.

Grandmothers-In-Law’s Bdays

My husband’s grandmothers are getting an album with these papers. Most of the time I give albums that are blank and let the recipient fill in with their own photos. However, since both grandmothers have been a bit isolated due to the stay-at-home order, we’re asking family to send us photos. I’ll fill up the albums before we send them off, which will be easier for them. The Authentique paper doesn’t have a lot of sheets, so I’m supplementing it with the BoBunny. The color palettes match almost exactly, so I’m glad that worked out because shopping online can be tricky when it comes to matching colors. I’m going to use a Tonic Studios Memory Book Die Set since these papers I think will work well.

Mother-In-Law’s Bday Album

My Mother-In-Law loves these colors, so I think she’ll really like this design. I know she has tons of photos but I’m not sure if she ever gets them printed, so I hope she’ll be able to put this album to good use. 🙂 I think it’ll be fun to work with an ephemera pack — there are a lot to choose from!

Step-Mother-In-Law’s Bday

My Step-Mother-In-Law is a pretty crafty person herself, so I know she’ll really love getting a handmade album. She just became a grandmother, so I think I’ll might make her a baby photo album so she can collect photos of her first grandbaby. The First Edition paper packs don’t have cut-a-parts or sentiments, so I might have to augment this with something… to be figured out. 🙂

As you can see, lots of projects in the works! I have about 5 albums started at varying stages. I have 3 that I’ve done all the base page die cutting from The Keepsake Insert die set. I love using the memory book dies because they do make the album construction go so much faster than hand-cutting and assembling your own pocket pages.
