Hi everyone! I have a new style of Light-Up card I want to share. This is what I’m calling an “Easel Light-Up”. By simply standing up the easel card, the light will turn on. You can let go of the card and continue to enjoy the lit-up experience of the card without continually having to stand there holding it. When you don’t want to see the card lit up, you can take the card front off the easel stopper and lay it flat again.
There are a few things I hoped to achieve by coming up with this technique:
- I want to make it easier for the card recipient to “turn on” the lights. Just stand the card up and it lights up!
- I want the card recipient to enjoy the lit-up card experience without having to continually depress a button. As long as the easel is standing, the light stays lit, making it beautifully displayed and enjoyable. To “turn it off” you just need to remove it from the easel position.
- I have always wondered whether the weight of other mail during shipping could depress the “press here” area and keep the light turned on and drain the battery. I don’t know if that ever happens – just speculating.
This is my first attempt at this technique and it worked! I’ll be making this style of card again for sure. Now that I’ve learned from this card, my next one will definitely have some improvements and perhaps even a little easier to create.
