Having a nice work surface is also key. Besides a nice sturdy table, you’ll want something to protect your table from cuts, inks, etc. There are a lot of different surfaces I use to protect my table and I just layer one on top of the next as I need. The bottom-most is a large self-healing mat that pretty much covers the entire area I’ll be working on (and then some!). This is a nice size for also cutting fabric with a rotary cutter, so I use it for sewing projects too.
