Having a nice work surface is also key. Besides a nice sturdy table, you’ll want something to protect your table from cuts, inks, etc. There are a lot of different surfaces I use to protect my table and I just layer one on top of the next as I need.
I use this silicone mat for when I do any inking, watercoloring… basically anything that might be messy. It’s easy to clean up, waterproof, and non-sliding. The non-sliding aspect is really nice for pouring out a few embellishments to add to a card because they won’t roll around or easily get knocked off the table. Best of all, when I don’t need it, I can just roll it up and tuck it under my table.
