20+ Cards with Spellbinders – Aug 2019 Kit – Hang With Me

I dived into this kit and I love it! In my earlier blog post with the comparison table of monthly card kits, I mentioned I was going to buy some kits and try them before subscribing. That’s just what I’ve done and now I have a LOT of card kits. 🙂 Most — maybe all — of them were purchased at huge discounts when they’ve gone on sale. Even the subscription price is generally good value for money but at a deeper discount, its a no-brainer to load up! Below is a video showcase of the ~20 cards I created! About half of them shared a similar design — it’s one that I made in “mass” since I’m sending these cards out to a lot of family & friends.

Encouragement Cards

With the Hang With Me card kit of the month from Spellbinders, I did have a specific project in mind. Back when the coronavirus first broke and there was the shortage of toilet paper, I sent out a humor card to my friends and family (check my Card Gallery to see photos of it). I thought it would be a good laugh and everyone I sent the card to thoroughly enjoyed it. None of us had any idea that the shelter-in-place mode we’re living in would last this long. When I saw this card kit, I knew I wanted to make encouragement cards because I think we could all use some positive vibes right now.

Everyone is dealing with all the events of late (not just covid-19 but George Floyd and similar incidents, politics, looting, etc.) in their own way. For some of us (myself included) it can be rather depressing, frustrating and scary to watch the news. In talking to my family & friends, I’m not the only one who feels this way. Some of us have developed an apathy to it all, some have become invigorated to be more active and some just feel helpless. They are all valid reactions and responses. I want to send some good, positive energy to everyone as a small reminder that it’s not all bad. Hopefully it’ll serve as a reminder that this too shall pass and will lead to something better and brighter.

Opinion of Spellbinders Card Kit

I recently shared my Impressions of the Scrapping For Less Card Kit. I don’t think I’m ready to give a full impression of the Spellbinders kit yet because I’ve only made this one project. Albeit, I did create over 20 cards / notecards so I did get a LOT out of maybe 25% of the kit. That right there is a huge plus. This kit is very generous and ample. I can probably make a few more projects with what’s left. I do want to use the kit in another type of craft project though — maybe a mini album. One of my goals is that whatever kit I subscribe to, I want to make sure it can be used for multiple types of paper crafting projects — cards, mini albums, home decor, etc.

I will say that the Spellbinder kits have LOT in them. If you don’t have a lot of paper crafting / scrapbooking supplies, you can use these kits and make a lot of great cards with them and very little else. Everything is very well-coordinated so if you’re like me and you sometimes struggle with matching colors, designs, etc., these kits make it really easy. I wouldn’t say that everything goes with everything but for every item in the kit, there’s bound to be several items that “match” or coordinate with it — either in color, style or theme.

I have several Spellbinders kits (I just couldn’t resist the spring clearance sale), so I’m looking forward to using them more and developing a better sense for how well they suit my personal crafting needs.
