I’m Starting a Design Team!

Have you always wanted to be on a design team but never landed a position on one? Do you want to see what it’s like to be on a team before applying to one formally? Do want to make some new crafty friends?

If the above applies to you, keep on reading!

I am starting a Crafty Fun Creative Team. My Facebook group is called Crafty Fun w/ Friends of LV Handcrafted and this team will share projects to that group. I will run this team like a design team but it will differ from other design teams primarily because we aren’t promoting any specific company’s products, we aren’t promoting a challenge or blog – we are promoting you!

This Creative Team is NOT sponsored. I am running it personally just for fun, which means I can’t guarantee I’ll keep this going indefinitely, but I’ll try to run this for as long as there is strong interest and I have time available.

My Goals

I want to be transparent about my goals. Since this Creative Team is not sponsored, running it comes at the cost of my own time and money. As such, while I have some goals to help you, my fellow crafter, I have some personal goals too. Every design team should be mutually beneficial to the designers on the team and the owner of the team. I believe in being upfront about my personal goals so you know what I hope to gain out of this experience.

Goals for You

  1. Design Team Experience & Community – My motivation for starting a Creative Team is to help you get onto a design team if that is your goal. Hopefully, this gives you some design team experience if you’re having a hard time getting onto one or want to see what it’s like before you apply for one.

When I started sharing my crafty makes, I didn’t know any other crafters – personally or virtually. My journey was fun and valuable, but kinda lonely and it was long time until I got noticed. Since then, I’ve made some crafty friends through my DT experiences and I am so grateful for their support. And that’s what I want for you – a supportive, crafty circle of friends.
  2. Exposure – I will give your crafty makes exposure through my social media. My social following is growing every day but it’s not so large that it will catapult you to instant stardom. LOL. But I want to use my platform to help you gain exposure however much I can. It’s quite possible you have a larger following than I do but hopefully I can at least share your projects to a different audience, if not a wider one.

Goals for Me

  1. Grow my FB Group – I love my Crafty Fun w/ Friends FB group. It’s such an amazing community and I want to grow its membership and increase engagement. We’re all at different points in our crafty journey and I want to encourage members at every level to share their makes even if they are not on a formal design team.
  2. De-stash – And finally, I think this is a fun way for me to de-stash some crafty goodies and give them a new home. (And make room for new stuff that always seems to be coming in.)

I make no guarantees about finding you a position on a team or even offering referrals to a team. This is an experience and opportunity for you to take and make from it what you want in order to achieve your own goals.

Expectations of You

  • 3-month term – Commit to making and sharing projects for 3 months
  • 2 projects per month (6 projects in total)
    • 4 projects using anything in your stash – genuine products only
    • 2 projects using crafty goodies I send you.

Optional:

  • Send me (at your own cost) your projects at the end of your term. I will showcase all projects on my YouTube channel. If I have your project physically in hand, I can give it some up-close attention on camera. Otherwise, your project photos will be shared in a slideshow at the end of my video. I won’t reimburse postage. I won’t return your project.

How to Apply

Fill out this form – https://forms.gle/4pWQk4Y15eNQZccQ6

Please do not apply if you have been on or currently are on a Design Team. This Creative Team is meant to help crafters and hobbyist break through to get onto a team.

DEADLINE to Apply – December 24

How Will I Pick Creative Team Members?

I am going to randomly pick from the pool of applicants as a first pass. From there, the only additional screening I will do is to look at your project photos.

I’m not looking for professionally staged and photographed projects, but I do want to see some effort and a willingness to take constructive feedback if your goal is truly to make it onto a design team. You just need a phone, some good lighting and a bit of staging. The staging can be as minimal as a clear table top, but it needs to be more than just a photo of your card on your craft mat.

Other Questions

Can you share this opportunity with your crafty friends?

Please don’t repost this broadly. You can let your friends know personally. They will need to join my Crafty Fun w/ Friends of LV Handcrafted Facebook group if they want to apply as that is a requirement. I want to keep the applicant pool small and exclusive to my crafty friends (and their friends).

How many people will I choose? It will depend on how many applicants I get and how much I’m looking to de-stash. 🙂

What happens after your term ends? Since my goal is to help as many crafters as I can, I will pick all new members for the next term. However, you can stay in the Crafty Fun Creative Team Alumni group if you’d like to continue staying in touch.

Can I apply again? If you meet all the requirements, you can apply again. Please note, you can’t be a Creative Team member for more than one term since you’ll have some DT experience. 🙂

Can you apply even if your goal is just to have fun and meet new people? If you can commit to the expectations and you meet the qualifications, you absolutely can apply if your goal is just to have fun. This isn’t only for people who want to make it onto a design team. It’s also to encourage everyone to share their crafty makes.
